Hello Everybody!

I'm not one for introductions but allow me to show some class although my intellectual skills are weak. I just realized I better introduce myself before I get banned for making mistakes. I just left a thread where a newbie was banned for spamming and making short posts I guess. I do not spam but I could be accused of making short posts "just to run my post count up to 15 so I can post links" NOT. I do not care to post links either...just youtube music videos. I hope this forum isn't ran with an iron fist by a bunch of neon-Hitlers cause I already feel like I want to be here for awhile. I JUST LOVE MUSIC.

About me: I'm more of a real type of person who likes to keep it real. I really like humor. So many people are wrapped up so tight they choke off the circulation to their air supply, this makes it hard for them to smile because their lips swell up and turn blue. It's not a pretty site to see. When I see an opportunity to smile or make someone else smile I take advantage of it.

I do not suck up nor do I care for peep's who suck up...please do not get offended if you are a suck up. I still like you but I will be sure to trick you into liking me so you take me off of your radar. We can be friends.

Welp! this is it. Do or die I'm jumping in. Feel free to chime in and say whatever you want...I'm just a man.

Welcome. What are some of your favourite artists?

Also, a tip for you since you're new here: everyone sucks but me.

I love Dad rock or classic rock 'n roll, too many artists to list them all. I also like don't laugh and don't hate but I like Disco, the Bee Gees, KC and the sunshine band, Earth Wind and Fire, Donna Summer, Commodores, Van Mc Coy, I also like old school hippity-hop. <I just invented that word, MC Hammer, Toni Braxton, too short, Coolio, Cypress Hill, Eminem, I like powerful music that really moves you, Larry Graham, Louis Armstrong, Elvis Presley, there is one song by Shirley Horn...guess which one it is? I like love - love music, Bozz Scaggs, Van Morrison, Dr Hook, Eric Clapton, Dolly Parton <guess which song it is? I can taste a a small bit of country like Conway Twitty, Charlie Rich, Ronnie Milsap, Glenn Campbell, a little Willie, etc.

I am very versatile when it comes to music. I think it's uncool to jive on anotha's tunes. After all if listen to the same song 40 times you may start liking it to...just sayin.

I appreciate the reply but No! I am a lot younger than my taste for music. I really appreciate the efforts and talent of our previous generations. I am not a fan of many songs or groups from the last fifteen years. It's an absolute shame most of the music coming out now-a-days is not comparable imo.

Forreal

People who say **** like that always judge contemporary music as like.. Linkin Park, Nickelback, Katy Perry, Iggy Azealia, etc.

I'd bet money that OP listens to the radio and that's his perception of modern music.

I do not listen to the radio but you could be right. I have not heard enough newer music to be a fan. I will say I do like some newer songs by various bands - groups. It's just rare I ever hear anything new worth adding to my list of most listened songs.

DeadChannel 07-12-2015 08:09 PM

That's probably because

A) you probably haven't delved into modern music
B) you are have a specific set of vintage sounds that you are looking for, and any new innovations are crap to you.

Next!

I don't exactly disagree with this, but I do think its an oversimplification.

I can somewhat relate because before I got married I had my core "sounds" that I connected with, while keeping an open mind and exploring new ones. Music lovers tend to grow in their music, developing their musical pallet just like a foodie develops their culinary pallet...

However, sometimes life just gets in the way (I.e: a spouse that doesn't like loud music, a job that doesn't allow music or only plays the Gaga stations, living with individuals who have very different sensory processing needs, etc), and sometimes that musical exploration and refinement process either plateaus or halts altogether. After all, if music is no longer a big part of someone's life, filtering through all the crap songs to get to the good ones can seem a daunting chore.. sometimes its just easier to pop in some nostalgic "comfort songs." It doesn't mean the person is close-minded or incapable of appreciating newer sounds, it just means that they need to be willing to break their musical routine and ask for recommendations from others with similar musical taste but a more developed pallet.

good ideas, good innovations and very well spoken. Whenever I hear something I like, it's like discovering gold. I am very open minded but short on patience. It's kind of like whether I'm attracted to it or not. If there is some attraction I will give it a chance and see if there's more. If it hurts my ears from the beginning then I get turned off easily to never return. I think you really understand me
