I am the great and powerful Stormelius!!

...although the only power I seem to have is causing all my bands' shows to experience unexpectedly inclement weather. So it's not a great superpower. But it's mine.

I live in Reno, I'm in a band with bird masks. I do speedwriting stuff sometimes. I have an aggressively ingrown toenail. My baby is trying to tear the blinds off my window. Okay, I'm back. Go to sleep, baby. GO TO SLEEP, BABY!!

I play the guitar sorta badly and the keyboard much less badly and I used to write a lot of MIDI but nothing seems to have a staff editor anymore!!

Looking forward to meeting all y'all

Hey Neapolitan! I guess I'm influenced by R.E.M. and Death Cab for Cutie and Duran Duran and Tori Amos. I don't even know what bands I'm into right now. There's a local band called Stabby Unicorn that I love a lot. Often I scour the Internet for music to love and it just fails to happen.

How about you?

ChelseaDagger 05-04-2016 02:43 PM

I like you... You may stay.

Just for that, you don't get to listen to it!

... He won't. My power is telepathy, and since there is no one in his brain ATM, I left a message to the effect that if he tries to peddle any of his lame @$$ chalkboard-scraping fingernails here, that I will send my tomcat to eviscerate his gizzards before the moderators have a chance to ban him.

I'm serious though. It's not allowed here and you'll get banned.
Mercilessly.
By me.
Hope it won't come this far though. You seem cool.

The idea of "peddling" music is a strange one to me. It's damn near impossible to get people to listen to music for free. I suspect that in the future, musicians will pay non-musicians to listen to their music.

What a beautiful expression. Never heard the word "gizzard" before. I hope I'll have the chance to use it extensively.

All righty-oh! Though already I see people linking to their own projects in their sigs, and some pinned thing about everyone being able to have a thread on a sub-forum, so... is it a hard-and-fast rule that you may not link to your own music, or are there exceptions?

"I highly recommend it; it is so choice."

Members who have been around and posting for a few months are allowed to share their stuff.
The reason is that there are dozens of new members joining every week just to spam 15 posts, post a link to their stuff and never to be active again. It's messy and annoying.

My apologies, we have a special breed of crazy cat lady here I suppose.

I started going to an english course at work. It's ridiculously below my level, but still kinda fun and a good way to get to know my new colleagues.
I hope I'll eventually have the chance to threaten their gizzards with evisceration.

Finally, some overdue recognition... I got half a mind to sig this acute psychological assessment.

You should save it, then use it on the hot chick... Here in America, the colloquial use of "eviscerate your gizzards," is a term of endearment synonymous with "cherish you forever, my love." She'll be putty in your hands.

There's only one hot chick I know of and she doesn't attend. :(
I'll try to think of something though to implement your useful and definitely truthful advice.

At one point in my life I was known as the Great & Powerful Shittypoops. Thank goodness those days are behind me.

They're a decent bunch.

My taste is wide and varied. I like The Beatles & the Stones, Yes & Genesis, R.E.M. (the IRS years), The Church, The Strokes etc etc etc

I scour YouTube for new bands (bands that are new to me) and I always discover something I haven't heard before. But then again I am ten, twenty, forty years behind the times. I just discovered Future Sound of London yesterday, and I got told off how antiquated they are and how much better ambient music is today, but hey whatever ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I like what I heard so far. Finding a good song is easy enough. Finding a band that I love everything they do is a little harder, and the prospect sometimes seems unlikely. But sometimes I do, and it kinda happens unexpectedly after I put in a lot of gumshoe work.

What are the last few albums you've listened to?

(Welcome aboard, by the way!)
