Well I'm certainly no historian, so it could be more commonly used than I think. But I can honestly say that I have never encountered it before, not once.

WASP is not a Politically Correct term - it's an Actually Correct acronym. It just means what anticipation said - more than just "white person". The Anglo-Saxons are the White Protestant people who came up from Europe to beat the **** out of ancient UK folks and steal their land a long time ago. (That's why many of you UK citizens are white and tall and not darker-skinned or Leprechauns or something - those people mostly got kicked out).

In America it's kind of used like the acronoym "JAP" which means Jewish American Princess (i.e. spoiled rich Jewish American women - also not PC).

Do you guys not study genealogy over there?

Since when did studying genealogy include slang terms for ethnicity?
