I don’t know anything about dogs I don’t know. I’m not betting my dog’s life on other dogs being friendly.

i agree with hawk.
not that i would shoot another dog, but i hate when people in public places let their dogs off leash. i don't know anything about stranger dogs temperament and behavior, and the other people don't know anything about my dog. my dog will go nuts if he's on a leash an a non-leashed dog runs up on him, a lot of dogs will. it's irresponsible dog ownership. again that's in a public place, different story altogether in an rv park. |
an RV Park is a shared space
unless it’s in the dog park section you’re supposed to keep your dogs leashes on any sort of campground What I’ve done in the past is pick up my dog and if the other dog’s owner is about I just say it clearly if your dog approaches my dog I’ll kill your dog I’ve done that about 5 times: I’ve gotten angry reactions, frightened reactions, visits and calls later but whatever it is my response is keep your dog on a leash and it won’t be a problem if the dog isn’t around an owner I call animal control If I’m not walking my dog I try to get the dog back to its owner I love dogs but I don’t **** with my dog getting hurt We’re ride and die |

Went on a hike once with a friend and his girlfriend. They let their dogs off the leash and they would always run ahead of us. More than more occasion of us cresting a hill only to see another hiker standing with their hands near their chest in that sort of "I don't like this but I'll try to be calm" sort of way. Friends GF was just like "ohhh they're friendly don't worry". Bitch that ain't up to you. How many people are you going to freak out before you realize courtesy exists. I didn't know her well so I had to bite my tongue but I never took them up on a hike invitation since then. |

I understand the above, but if a random dog comes up to me off leash, I'd just feel it out and be cautious. Unless youre in a bad neighborhood I think it's generally safe to assume the dog is going to be friendly. Otherwise you'd have some crazy white person running towards you yelling their dog is mean and stay away.
