Oh hey thanks I was worried I'd have to make a case for getting WWWP involved.

Not just any random book, just ones that we've read.

There are, like, a lot books. More than a hundred I believe.

And there are even more albums. Imagine walking into a record store and talking to your friend about an album you saw there. Craziness.

I've listened to a lot more albums than I've read books because it takes generally less than an hour to listen to an album and I can do so on a much more casual basis than it takes to read a book, so there's way more of a chance at being able to talk about "that album over" than there is "that book over there".

you obviously never invested in speed-reading courses

Well yeah cause I know an infomercial scam when I see one.

Frownland 08-12-2019 10:20 PM

Just take the speed and read, Batman, it's not that hard.

I met lots of really cool people at an anarchist book store collective space in Portland

That’s also where I got involved with food not bombs and critical mass

Who would've thought that your comment could be so controversial ? Although there have been a few happy exceptions in my life, I basically agree with DMcC, that browsing in a bookshop feels more natural when done alone. In company, I usually end up worrying about what book might be of mutual interest, etc.

In company, sitting down over coffee is always a pleasure, although for me, going for a stroll is an even better option. The movement and slowly evolving scenery is very conducive to a conversation that can be intimate, that can comfortably lapse, or that can lurch off in an unexpected direction.

@DWV : yeah, I had some doubts about the motivation behind posting a selfie, but then my craving for attention got the better of me ;)
