Thanks! Yeah, I remember being in that folk album club with you—listened to a lot of excellent music. And yes, I did change my hair color. I use henna to dye it now.

Yep, that's the one. I really appreciate how thorough and critical it is of capitalism so far.

I definitely recommend checking it out. I was looking for books on zeuhl or avant-prog—specifically books on Magma—but came across this. Immediately downloaded it on my Kindle.

Already ordered it.
Have you read Chris Cutler's "File Under Popular"?
I could see you digging it.

The book is well-researched and well-written,
so it's a joy to read and to learn some insights into
their very serious thinking (sometimes as a detriment)
during those days. I think there were something like
nearly a hundred interviews and various sources compiled.
I've had a nasty exchange with Cutler that's soured me on him
(plus he has some artistic philosophies that I don't agree with),
but I'm happy to see what Hodgkinson has since done musically -
especially his support for Romanian Spectralism.

I always expected Cutler to be a bit of a dick.
Love him as musician though, although I agree that Hodgkinson has been more interesting in the last decades.

It's been on my reading list for a while, but I have yet to read it!

What happened if you don't mind me asking?

Well, I don’t think it’s healthy to rake him over the coals again,
but it was something having to do with Richard Pinhas that
had some unnecessary dickishness. Still, his influence on my
young life was pretty immense and I can certainly keep things
separate in my mind when it comes to his instrumental prowess.
