To be pedantic, we did'nt 'invent' the word. The English language is a bastardisation of Saxon, Germanic, Latin (yes it is), French and Norse. That's why it has the biggest selection of words (approx 100,000) and consequently, is a difficult language to learn. Many English words can have two or three meanings and spellings yet are spelt the same. There endeth todays lesson.
