Good Morning Starshine, The Earth Says Hello

Hi.

My name is Dresden.

I used to hang around this forum years and years ago under a different name. I was reminded of it about a week ago and to my surprise it was still around! I used to be a terrible, angsty little thing with awful taste in music and even worst taste in banter.

I look forward to redeeming myself and having good conversations about music.

I'm into stuff like Fleetwood Mac, City and Colour, Amanda Palmer. My husband surprised me with tickets to Fleetwood Mac in October and it's on "devil's night" so I think the portal will be open and the time will be right for me to siphon a little bit of Stevie's magic. A girl can dream...

Welcome!

If I were to refer to you as the Za Lord, would that make sense to you?

Negative. Is that a Dresden Files reference?

Indeed it is.

I get asked about that series a lot. But my name is in reference to the band The Dresden Dolls. I think Dresden is a really pretty word.

Ah, okay. I do use the occasional Dresden Files reference, but I'll try not to beat a dead horse, because I'm sure it can get annoying when you run into some of us who are more...enthusiastic...about The Dresden Files.

I agree, "Dresden" is a really pretty word. Apparently it evolved from a word meaning "people of the forest." I'm not familiar with The Dresden Dolls, but I'll look them up. Thank you for pointing me toward new (to me) music.

My brother is a big fan of the Dresden Dolls. I know I've heard a fair bit of it, but I can't remember any. It's an electronica sort of thing... or something with pianos... I'm not sure anymore actually. I get certain bands he likes confused with each other.

Anyway, welcome!

Welcome (back) to MB, Dresden! :wavey:

Nice intro-thread title! We don't get many refs to the musical Hair on here. And nice avatar too: I remember that album being hugely popular, although personally I prefered Fleetwood Mac back when Peter Green was still a member. If you don't remember Albatros yourself, you could ask your parents about it. ;)

Who were you before?

I would rather have a clean slate. I remember you. I don't think you liked me much.
