Attempt to Revitalize: Carpe Mortem Returns

Cheesy movie title aside...

I used to be a pretty avid poster here and made some friends, I'm sure there's some new folks though so a new introduction is in order. And some new "traits" or interests anyhow. I figure bombarding the forum with posts all at once might force me to commit to music talk again.

I'm a big metal, rock, and soundtrack fan. I tend to flit around the various subgenres of these primary genres, but there's always an undercurrent of doom. In fact I run the doom metal group on here. At the time it was the only one, that may have changed with the years. If you're into it feel free to join.

I'm terrible at choosing favorite bands, I feel like there's too much finality in it I guess. But the flavors of the week have been Psychadelic Witchcraft, Pagan Altar, and Tarantino soundtracks. As far as new exposures I've been trying to get more into Crowbar, never was a huge fan but heard a great track and I'm giving them a better shot.

In my personal life I have a large collection of pets - about thirty tarantulas, one scorpion, one whip scorpion, one camel spider, two giant millipedes, five feigning death beetles, a colony of deaths head cockroaches, a colony of dubia roaches (mainly food source for the other animals), a bearded dragon, and a mini Rex rabbit. There's also a giant centipede running free range in my apartment - scolopendra polymorpha - he escaped somehow and he's probably dead in a corner somewhere but it makes picking up clothes a real adventure. The exotic animal thing started as a kid and when my partner expressed interest in the hobby I was thrilled to get back into it. Other than work, school, and video games, it's pretty much all I do.

Glad to be here.

Hi Carpe.

The pet thing sounds both unbelievably gross and unbelievably cool.

The Batlord 12-09-2018 11:09 AM

If there was a giant centipede loose in my house I'd get a gun and a new house.

Pleased to see the return of one of our big hitting forumistas.

That is an impressive list of pets, BTW. Some unusual ones there too. I'd be scared of some of them I think.

Hey, Carp's back. Nice. Good to see ya around.

I had a Chilean for a while a long time ago. Awesome pets.

Rosehairs especially are phenomenal pets. That was my first subspecies when I was a kid and have three currently. The carapaces have that gorgeous signature coloring, and all are very docile.

My OBT (orange baboon tarantula), on the other hand... Well let's just say they're affectionately known in the hobby as "orange bitey thing". Nasty temperament. Nice looking spiders though.

I have a herpetologist friend that had one of those, along with a Goliath and then all kinds of reptiles, snakes, and even a brown skunk. I used to love going over there, but he got married, had kids, and now the herd is dwindled down to a few turtles. I've learned a lot from him. The kind of dude that you'd find with a net and a sack walking the creek or the edge of a pond. People like that are amazing.

Been waiting a long time to use that.

Carpe Mortem 12-10-2018 08:24 AM

Lol when I was a kid I wanted to be a herpetologist and got that **** incessantly

The Batlord 12-10-2018 09:10 AM

I was gonna be a derpetologist but my grades weren't good enough.

Plankton 12-10-2018 09:14 AM

It's never too late... unless you're in hospice. It's kinda too late then.

The Batlord 12-10-2018 09:19 AM

Waiting to get your life together till you're literally ****ting the bed is the essence of derpetology.

Plankton 12-10-2018 09:23 AM

Right on schedule then. How do you find the time. Beast.

The Batlord 12-10-2018 09:50 AM

I just have a few too many brews and piss the bed. I told you my grades weren't good enough.

Carpe Mortem 12-10-2018 03:10 PM

You're putting in a lot of hard work, it should be recognized. Maybe a dunce cap.

The Batlord 12-10-2018 03:31 PM

A dunce cap with a beer helmet. Never hurt anyone.

DwnWthVwls 12-10-2018 05:26 PM

You need no introduction. I still listen to Graveyard often.

Key 12-10-2018 07:22 PM

Will still remember when you played Madeira in plug and it was such a fantastic play and you had gotten like...8 woots for it. Good times.

Hey man, is your profile pic from Wizards? I've been meaning to watch it and the other Bakshi flicks lately. It's cool to see it on here.

Dude's poor and has an insect infested apartment, but plays it off as a collection of rare arthropods. My man

It is, and highly recommended. Bakshi's rotoscoping technique is stellar. The whole movie was free on YouTube last I looked, do it up.
