Hi from the UK!

Hi all,

I'm Alex and I'm new here.
I mainly came here because I am going to try and learn how to play the lyre, and I am looking for some guidance.
Anywho, I hope there is a nice community here.

Cheers,
Alex

If I told you I knew anything about that instrument I would be a liar myself.

Are you interested in other Folk instruments like the country mountain dulcimer or the autoharp?

Hi Neapolitan,

pleased to meet you! ^_^
I am really only trying to familiarise myself with the lyre.
If I succeed I might move on to other folk instruments, though.
(Big "if" - I was never very much into playing music, so we'll see how this works out in the end.)

I really never heard lyre music before, till recently. Not too long ago I've stumbled across some YouTube video of a lyre duo. (I'd post it but I can't find it.) I think that's where lyres really shine when there are two players. One person plays arpeggios and the other plays melody. (To my ears at least) the lyre sounds like a cross between a classical guitar and a harp. I can see the attraction.

What kind music do you listen to mostly?
