3 years since my last visit...
 

So, maybe this warrants an Intro thread? I don't know, if any of you mods feel different, do your mod stuff, have fun!

I was a mod here myself what...well over 10 years ago, I think. I was a fresh-faced student back then. I can't wait to cringe at my old posts if I ever come across them.

I'm honestly not sure if I'll be on here much. Knowing me, I'll get distracted and forget about this place again. Honestly, only the last few months I started actually listening to my old music library again, and I thought of this place. All those years spent posting when I was procrastrinating college assignments, when I was pre-drinking ahead of going out, tunes blaring at what I now appreciate were unreasonable volumes (back then, the guy who lived in the flat below me who'd bang on his ceiling to get me to turn the noise down was just a miserable dickhead, but now over a decade later, I see that he might have had his reasons :p:).

All I've been doing since I graduated is kinda drift from job to job, (trying to) make no budget films and get them distributed. It's a fun, albeit expensive hobby.

Again, I might not be around much, but since I've miraculously remembered my password, I'll try and pop in a few times a week. Hopefully not to just lurk either.

Anyway, to make a long story short....hi again!

Hey guys. Sorry it took so long posting here, work, projects and stuff have been kicking my arse the last few days. I'm actually finsihing an edit for my last project this week ahead of sending it to film festivals, so it's a super nerve-wracking time!

Great to see you all here. And some of you I remember from when I was last regular. It's like I never left!

I'll try and keep up with the place. Apart from anything else, my music library is in dire need of an update, as honestly, about 60-70% of it I simply don't listen to anymore :p:

And for the record your Armchair Guide to Costello changed the trajectory of my music taste forever. Distantly acquainted stranger pals you’ve know for more than a decade for the win! Almost feels like I should be asking after your mum.

I'll have to remember that - I'll actually be headed up to Brownsville, Texas next fall, hopefully, and I imagine there'll be plenty of that going on:laughing:

Yeah, that kinda took us all by surprise here, he actually didn't tell any of us he was doing that. Just goes to show, sometimes real life happens like a Richard Curtis movie!

Always good to know I've managed to turn someone into another Costello fan :cool: I should at least update that thread with the last 4 albums he's released since I was last active! I actually finally got to see him about 5/6 years ago. Great show, just a shame I had just about the worst weekend ever around it. Then again, I was in London, so I should have known what to expect....at least now I can now say I've had my London Nightmare - a rite of passage for every Brit :p:

I'd like to see your Armchair Guide to Costello. I'm kind of a fan too, dating back from the beginning. When everyone else was listening to Fleetwood Mac and Ted Nugent, I was listening to Costello.

If I get time, I'd actually re-do the whole thing. Not that the ratings as they are would change that much - what I called my favourite Costello albums back then are still my favourites now - but looking back at it now is kinda like looking back at old photos. Cringe!

Hey Clockface is an absolute beast of an album, if anyone's curious.

Checking it out now.

It's one of his best albums, I think. Certainly in the kinda B+/A tier.

As for the others I didn't get a chance to write up, Look Now is kinda average, The Boy Named If has some excellent songs on it but plenty of duds, it's a bit of a mixed bag, and in the 9 years since it came out, I still haven't listened to Wise Up Ghost properly!

I got 3 songs in and had to shelve it for later. I did like what I heard though.
