Kind of Blue

The question : Is 'Kind of Blue' by Miles Davis the best jazz album ever? If you think not then give me a list of your top 3 albums, or just your favourite!!!

No, not in my opinion, but it's up there and I certainly wouldn't argue with someone who thought it was the best jazz album ever. My favorite jazz albums are something like this, although it's a kinda forced list:

1. Miles Davis - Bitches Brew
2. John Coltrane - A Love Supreme
3. The Quintet - Jazz Live at Massey Hall

Its hard to say that its the best, but Kind of Blue is probably one of the best albums to play for a new fan of jazz or non fan. You can play Kind of Blue in a party atmosphere for some great background music or you can crank it up and be blown away by its ingeniousness.

It's damn good and definitely up there on the charts. It probably is my all time favorite along with Time Out.

Definitely way up there, but calling it the best ever is merely an opinion that can't be proven.

Tough qustion that can't ever be answered ! Wes Montgomery, Boss Guitar "Smokin at the Half Note" floors me...

Kind of Blue, what a great album, best ever in my uneducated opinion...

Jazz at Massey hall is pretty awesome, certainly a lot of Jazz Giants playing together...

Some of Charles Mingus stuff is awesome too...

It is definitely one of the greatest albums around that's based on improv.

Hmm. Kind of Blue is great, but it doesnt seem as interesting to me as some other stuff does. My favorite jazz-ish album is Soft Machine's "Third". It just seems more interesting and more fun to listen to in my opinion. Miles Davis is a beast at improv, though.
