Default The Bad Plus

does anybody like the bad plus? i listened to there latest album 'give'. i thought it was pretty good. does anyone know anything about the band?

i got their album prog, its really great, but i think they need another solo/rhythm instrument like guitar or sax or something to add a bit more zest to their sound

idk much about them, but obviously they play alot of covers from a variety of genres, in their own unique pseudo-free jazz style. i know they also made an album with some female singer that completely consisted of covers

but yeah, good shet

What a lively thread.
Their renditions are pretty entertaining but I doubt I would listen to them very often. I haven't kept up with their music much but I remember way back when they made their version of 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' - the band did an interview on the radio and said that the pianist (who was in like his early-20s at the time) had to learn the song from scratch because he had never heard the song before or even heard of Nirvana.

well thats really hard for me to believe, thats probably the biggest song from one of the most overhyped bands of the 90s. at the time (wiki said it was recorded in 2000) you prob couldnt leave your house without hearing something nirvana somewhere..
