Giant Steps.

It was so important. The tune Giant Steps is still one that young bebopers still struggle with. The chord changes are so radical.

I love radical changes. I'm a musician myself. I just wrote a piece where the main figure changes from I to VII+ to v6 to iv9 6. It's arpeggiated and it has a genuine chill to it when played on a xylophone.

Nice. I love it when you talk in chords!

Giant Steps still blows my mind!

Blue train is the more classic album in my opinion, with guys like Lee Morgan and JJ Johnson & Philly Joe appearing. But Giant Steps definitely has the gems, like the title track (despite the sucky piano solo), the ever-beautiful Naima, and cook-offs like Mr PC and Countdown.

You gotta excuse the piano solo on this one. He thought the song was a ballad when he saw the chord changes. Who could have known it was an uptempo tune? I sure would not have wanted that song sprung on me at a recording session.

It was a quantum leap (giant step) harmonically.

Giant Steps is crazy (in a good way), so I prefer it.

Quite the decision, but I think I have to go with Blue Train on this one.
