I just had to revive this thread because these guys are really awesome, Frontman Béla Fleck plays acoustic and electric banjos, mixing a bluegrass and folk sound into a modern improvisational style. Brothers Victor Wooten and Roy "Future Man" Wooten form the rhythm section. Victor Wooten is widely lauded in jazz and bass-playing circles for his sometimes hyperkinetic slap and pop technique on bass guitar, and many consider him the leading bass virtuoso in music today. (as most already know) Futureman – the group’s percussionist created the “drumitar” (a modified SynthAxe rigged to play percussion samples instead of a synthesizer), which is his innovation and contribution to the music.

Was on a Bela Fleck and the Flecktones kick this week. I hardly ever listen to this kind of stuff, but I love Victor Wooten. And from what I've heard, Fleck deserves the praise he gets for his banjo work.

Yee-Haw Factor was the name of one that I remember having a good time with. It really makes you wanna yell Yeehaw even if you don't like country! Flying Saucer Dudes and Weed Whacker... I need to listen to them more. Very pleasant music. I threw it on at work and got a few quizzical looks and interested questions.
