Greatest Jazz Drummer

I have been talking with some of my friends, and we have been arguing over who is the greatest jazz drummer. Some say its Buddy Rich, Louis Bellson, Gene Krupa, ect. Out of all the jazz drummers in the world (both liviing and dead) who do you think the greatest is? Hope you settle out dispute. Thanks!

How did I forget Blakey?

Oh yes, Art Blakey and Max Roach were outstanding drummers. I always liked Krupa, but then I saw a clip of Buddy Rich playing and I lost my senses. That guy was incredible and Neil Peart claims that he was the best and took over for him. I know, I know - I made a reference to Peart, forgive me.

No drummer could ever top Buddy Rich. My drummer now spends most of the time between songs trying to mimic his sticks solo.

Oh yeah! Buddy Rich was my favorite for a while now! :)

Jack DeJohnette, Brian Blade and Ted Poor. Are the best. I think.

Art Blakey for sure.

How could you forget Buddy Miles? Or does he not apply? Band of Gypsies were pretty bluesy...
