Hey people, I was wandering if you could me point me to jazz musicians or albums that are similar to Tank! and songs like from the movie Whiplash .I know that this might seem like a begginer’s question, but I do like jazz(these tracks seem to be big band with some hard bop influence, right?), it’s just that I haven’t found yet any musicians that are in that same genre.Thanks in advance!

Hi. It's very difficult to determine what is really good since there are so many styles of blues and jazz.
I prefer older blues music from the 60's when the hippies were playing it. I'm also a huge Stevie Ray Vaughan fan. But my collection of music is more pre 1950's.
Since you're a rock fan, start out with Led Zeppelin, Ten Years After, Fleetwood Mac (with Peter Green), and The Rolling Stones. Each offers something the other doesn't. Get back to me on what you liked and then I can recommend some albums for you.

yesterday i listened to a tape... it is not purely jazz but i think it kinda belongs here. i dont know how to classify it but i really liked it. heres a word from its creator:

"A very varied set of songs released on the 78 rpm record format from the 30s to the 50s"

also i didnt know any of the artist but i ll drop some names contained in the tape for the more savvy:
Louis Jordan and his Tympany Five, The Three Harpers, Cal Tjader Trio featuring Vince Guaraldi, Babs Gonzalez, Vincent Lopez Orchestra

and a link if you care to give it a try.
