Alright. Here's what I've been listening to:

some Zappa. I'm uninitated so I don't really know where to start with him. But I like.

Ween's "White Pepper" album

Steely Dan "Can't Buy a Thrill"

Miles Davis, "Bithes Brew"

genre isn't important as talented, uncompromising musicians who deliver the goods....

Hi all,

Has anyone know a good performers of an acoustic guitar blues? I would like to hear songs like those playing by Tommy Emmanuel (however I am not sure if he is a bluesman or a country man

). This music is very simple - it has only one instrument (acoustic guitar) and only a one performer but I really enjoy it

I love that you are expanding your horizons. I'm big into blues and have just started listening to New Orleans style jazz.

As far as blues goes, pick up anything by Howling Wolf, John Lee Hooker, and Willie Dixon. The first time I ever listened to Willie Dixon, I had an aha moment. All those classic rock songs we've been listening to for years were written by him. " I can't quit you baby", "Back door man", "Spoonful", "I ain't superstitious" are all on the album, " I am the man" and you can bet that he is! If your real adventurous, check out one of his later albums, "Mighty Earthquake and a Hurricane" and get ready to be blown away. That **** is for real!
Right now I'm going through my inlaws old albums and I'm really diggin the George Lewis Band, "Jazz at Preservation Hall". That claronet is sublime.

Hmm...I took a look on good ol' Youtube at the artists mojogirl mentioned, and the only one that stuck out to me was Willie Dixon. What I'm looking for is mostly along the lines of this:

Looking back on it, my last post wasn't really clear at all, obviously. I'm looking more for jazz, rather than blues. I want to hear full orchestras, like something you would hear in a Broadway musical, or in a movie set anywhere from the Roaring 20's all the way to the 50's. Keep it instrumental, though, for both of my requests stated above.

Too bad I don't know of anyone my age that listens to jazz (I'm only 17.)
