Default Would You Consider this Jazz?

I say yes, my friend says no.

I don't understand how you can't call it Jazz, but I haven't listened to too much.

Your thoughts?

EDIT: Can't embed, sorry.

it's not jazz. it's more krautrock, which is in some cases derived from jazz.

so it depends on how technical i get to be.

Alright, cool. I just refer to it as "jazzy" now, haha.

I love the song though.

if you like this stuff listen to Can.

german krautrock band from the 60s and 70s.

more specifically, listen to Ege Bamyasi or Future Days by that band.

you can thank me later.

wait, what the deuce?

i get offended when bands like Harmonia and Deuter get labeled as krautrock, because it's just a half-assed attempt at pigeonholing a German progressive group into a completely disparate genre. and i don't even like the term.

this isn't jazz, and it's sure as hell not krautrock. in case you're unfamiliar, that's the whole 'alternative' nonsense or whatever they're calling it nowadays.

christ i hate genre arguments. i'm gonna go smack my face off tile for a while for getting lured into this discussion.

Well, the song wasn't made "nowadays". I'd just say that it's experimental rock with jazz and blues influences.

they sound like Can.

Can plays krautrock.

Therefore, this band should be labeled krautrock.

Or is my logic wrong?
