Junior Wells-Godfather of the Blues

Who has ever had a better handle on urban Blues than Junior Wells? When you add Buddy Guy's guitar on so many of Junior's early records, you can't lose.
What really sets it off is the tension, the South Side sweat. Junior was the living personification of the modern Chicago Blues in the 60's. (Although Buddy Guy often says there is no such thing as "South Side" or "West Side" or "Chicago Blues", I beg to differ.) Just check out the fairly new release on Delmark "Live At Theresa's- 1975" and you'll get a good example of Junior in concert. I saw him (and Buddy) many times and it doesn't get any better.
When they were a duo they had the best Blues show going. Buddy Guy really took off after the split but they were unstoppable together.
