Shouldn't it be Beatnicks? Not Hispters? Anyway...
She's currently best known as putting the two-boot dropkick to Justin Beiber in the Best New Artist category but she ought to be known for the chops. Jazz tends to be a elistist genre, full of album-checking conversation and name dropping posturing, so I thought it would be best to take from the new school. Enjoy! |

Here's a little gypsy jazz from Norway. Well, one of the guys is norwegian (Jimmy's a guitar virtuoso from the Netherlands) and the album was produced and recorded here (under the watchful eye of Jon Larsen from Hot Club de Norvège). Jimmy Rosenberg (from The Gypsy Kids) and Stian Cartsensen (from Farmers Market) recorded the album Rose Room together. No overdubs, just these two guys having fun in the studio :) This is Joseph Joseph which I assume is originally a Django Reinhardt song. |
Those are some good choices, phanastasio.
One of my favorite jazz recordings of all time: |
By far one of my favorite Jazz tracks:

Stacey Kent - I Wish I Were in Love Again |
Joshua Redman is one of my favorite current artists.
James Carter is another. A battle between the two. |
On a website called "Listverse", I found one of those rather meaningless lists, " Greatest Jazz Musicians Of All Time" :

I`m going off-list as well, as one of my favorite albums is by Don Cherry. Though knowledgeable people say that he was a limited player, he was something of a pioneer in directing his jazz sensibilities back towards Africa and other parts of the globe, and this track, Degi-Degi is one of the results : |
Wes Montgomery ~ Impressions Sonny Rollins ~ St. Thomas Clifford Brown & Max Roach ~ Oh, Lady Be Good - Memories Of You Ahmad Jamal ~ Darn That Dream Erroll Garner ~ Misty John Coltrane ~ Alabama Dave Brubeck ~ Take Five |

On another note, I didn't know hipsters listened to jazz. I thought they listened to proto-noise-electronic-ska-post-pop-industrial? |
