Default Evan Parker
Being a big Zornophile that I am, I've been looking around at early Zorn influences, and associations. One of the key ones which I feel is very important is Evan Parker. Probably the most interesting, and influential saxaphonists post-Brotzman that I've heard. A lot of traditional influence, yet expansion of technique. Lately I listened to a concert that a trio of his, and a Brotzmann trio put together collaboratively.



Very interesting stuff, I'm hoping to download a bit more soon enough. Anyone else know of him, or is interested?

I know of him, have a couple of his CDs and respect him tremendously for being one of the musicians who played on Machine Gun which is one of the most exciting free jazz records of all time.

I've definitely heard music with him. Might be influential on others I suppose but more importantly he did some good music which is popular on its own merit. I would probably like more by him than by Zorn I suspect. Not that I'm 'hating' on Zorn, I like him sometimes.

I listened to Saxaphone Solos yesterday. It's great. Reminds me of Kaoru Abe but not quite as squawnky.

A couple of interesting albums perhaps are The Topography of the Lungs and Monoceros.
