Default Johnny Guitar Watson
Don't know how this guy isn't more known. Clearly has to be where Hendrix was really influenced. Sure, his songwriting was nothing special, but guitar playing was so ahead of its time - the tone, the effects. His entire catalog isn't that great, but this song alone makes him amazing and way ahead of his time.

Released in 1954. Insanity.
