Where can I read about gospel songs?
|
Been listening to this album, it's kind of spotty, but when they're on it they really slay me. |

Badbadnotgood - III Loving this record, I much prefer all original songs then what they did prior with their first two releases, which are still great albums, but they don't top this one. These guys need to come to Florida. |

"Butterfly" is exotic and sensual. Another favorite of mine by Hancock is "The New Standard". |

That's what gospel's all about, even though this is more of a spiritual. |
Holy **** that's amazing. Where did you find that?

A must for Eric Dolphy fans, this has some of the same personnel as "Out to Lunch!". |
I'm still working my way through all six LPs of the Miles at the Fillmore collection. Trying to take the shows in one at a time to really get a feel for the unique elements of each performance.
I have a decent Miles collection. The Complete 72-disc Columbia Album Collection in FLAC and ~25 original LPs. The Japan-only issue Black Beauty double LP held me over for my Fillmore fix until the release of the complete performances. Really looking forward to taking them in. |

Arturo Sandoval - There Will Never Be Another You - great performance all around. John Coltrane - Equinox - Coltrane's Sound - one of my favorite saxophone tracks I've heard, the flow is real. |

Currently listening to Masada Guitars. Discussing it with TH got me thinking about it a lot and it's an amazing record. Some of the Tim Sparks songs are a bit happy-go-lucky for my taste though, but there's an abundance of styles on this album so it's easy to look past. |
Cool Jazz and Soul Jazz Classics
I was in a jazzy mood when I got home from work so I compiled data from RYM's genre charts and put together two collections - one of cool jazz classic LPs and the other of soul jazz staples.

I think they'll make for excellent weekend listening. Do you agree with the selections? Have I omitted any critical works? Thanks! |
Despite dying in his mid-twenties, Clifford Brown made a lasting impression on jazz and influenced many trumpeters.

I'm going to have to write my definitive jazz list. It might take a while but it will be good.
