^ Thanks for the rec, grindy. I played WTAIL last night and was plenty surprised to hear a Soft Machine song, which (as I then read on allmusic.com) was the original that turned into Hazard Profile. It's a great album and as a supposed enthusiast for Soft Machine, I really should've come across Nucleus already, given that the two bands are so interlinked.

So thanks again - and hope you feel better soon. Coronavirus apart, any 'flu/cold can leave you feeling miserable for days, as I know from experience.

The Elastic Rock - Under the Sun run of albums are all pretty great.

Not really related but you should check out Oregon if you haven't already, Lis. A little more out there and airy than some of the more rough and tough jazz rock bands from the 70's but they're still pretty great and one of my personal faves. Debut in particular.

windsock!! So good to see you here again!

Over the weekend I picked up Elastic Rock, WTAIL, Solar Plexus, Roots and Belladonna for good measure. So many tracks with a tasty, solid rhythm and those oozing oboe-type sounds that I love from Soft Machine - but with more trumpet too on these albums. Wonderful.

Will definitely check out Oregon on your rec. Thanks.

I'm late to the party but this is f*cking phenomenal. The Basho cover of "Blue Crystal Fire", one of my favorite songs ever, is hauntingly beautiful. I love this.

Susana Santos Silva who I endlessly adore plays trumpet

Glorious. Still one of my top albums from last year.
