"She was right next door and I'm, such a strong persuader. She was just another notch, on my guitar" For me, I like blues with a strong rhythm section, so like: BB King- Ghetto Woman Etta James-Straighten it Out Albert King- Stormy Monday and Born Under a Bad Sign Freddie King-Going Down to Kansas City Led Zeppelin- Since I been Loving You, Black Dog Koko Taylor/Susan Tedeschi-Voodoo Woman |

^that's real Blues
Here's a couple more.. Big Fat Mama Blues by Tommy Johnson and Oh Death by the master, Charlie Patton |
I wish I knew more about the older generations of blues artists...
Jimi Hendrix - Red House J.B. Hutto - Hawk Squat Joe Bonamassa - Funkier Than a Mosquito's Tweeter Led Zeppelin - When the Levee Breaks Allman Brothers - Whipping Post much Roy Buchanan and SRV |
I think Jimi Hendrix's rendition of Red House at Woodstock is some of the best blues guitar you could ever hope to hear.

Got My Mojo Working - Preston Foster (specifically Muddy Waters cover)
Telephone is Ringing - Pee Wee Crayton Pee Wee Crayton is a Blues man that doesn't get nearly enough attention in my opinion. I remember I was first introduced to him when I bought a mix taken from Bob Dylan's Theme Time Radio Hour show which had Telephone is Ringing on it, practically had to stop the car to listen to it. Muddy Waters' Live at Newport 1960, which has Got My Mojo Working, is by far one of my favorite blues albums. Hoochie Coochie Man is another great song on that album. Those are two of my favorites, I'm sure there are others. |
My fav blues songs would be in no order.
Robert Johnson- Stop Breakin Down Son House- Grinnin in your face Son House- Death Letter There are more I like but those 3 I like a lot |
I would embed but....I still need 5 more posts before I can link or embed anything into these forums haha.
One of my favorites that I do not think has been mentioned yet is Bobby Bland - Two steps from the Blues "I'm so forgiving, I'm so forgiving and I can't go on living two steps from the blues" Beautiful song, sang by a very soulful singer! You can listen to this song on youtube. |
