Default Calling all jazzheads

The official rec threads seem to be producing sporadically of late, so I'm creating a new thread for guaranteed results.

Here's the situation--I'm buying a present for a beginner jazz enthusiast, and I basically need to know what to purchase. My jazz knowledge is limited at best.

He's familiar with a few of the greats--loves Dizzy, Brubeck, Miles, Bird, etc. However, he's not a fan of Coltrane () or free jazz in general.

What two albums could I get him that
- he probably hasn't heard
- he's pretty much guaranteed to enjoy (yes, I know there's no such thing as a "guarantee" in music)
- are likely to be found in a used record store on CD

The store stocks everything from Cherry Poppin' Daddies to the Carpenters, so the last criteria isn't a big deal. Greatest hits albums are fine.
