Old Timey Jazz

Hi, first post and thread.
I'd like to find more music like from this episode of Hey Arnold (Sally's Comet)
at 3:38
youtu.be/hNaqgdaKNf0?t=218
and again at 9:27
(I'm not allow to post URLs until I've made 15 posts it seems...otherwise I'd use the proper tags)
Also recommendations for the fast stuff at 6:30 would be great too.

Thanks!

When I'm in the mood for that type of jazz, I usually listen to Fats Waller or Jelly Roll Morton.

LOVE Fats Waller! Really been getting into this genre lately... Can you post some Jelly Roll Morton for the Dagger?

OP-- I'll post some good ol' good ol' Louis Jordan later when I get the chance...

Django Reinhardt is pretty great, has that 20's dance feel and was most likely an influence on swing as well. Plus, he played his guitar with only three fingers on his left hand, due to the loss of his others. Doesn't get better than that.

This still sounds pretty good; from the band that took Jass from live performances in New Orleans and recorded it for a wider audience:-

^ My tastes aren´t as purist/authentic as yours, Psy-Fi. When I´m in the mood for that type of jazz, I most often turn to this exquisite album by John Fahey:-

It was recorded in 1973, but I hope it still counts. The title track is a wonderfully controlled big-band tour de force. Is it mournful or joyous? No matter how many times I hear it, I still can´t decide.

To me, Fahey´s album is far more than some jokey pastiche; it´s an attempt to dust off a little of the up-tempo "novelty" sound of some early jazz and to take dead serious aim at beauty instead. One of my all-time fave albums.

"Reefer songs from the 30s and 40s"... Nuff said.

I hadn't heard that Fahey album before. I'll have to listen to the entire LP when I get a chance. I thought that first tune had a nice Hawaiian type blues sound running through it. The second one sounded a bit more like what I was expecting (based on the album cover.)

Did someone say "reefer?"

Might as well add a bit of sexual innuendo to this thread...
