I love his style, but I'm not a big fan of his wacky guitar tone of late. Metheny and Scofield definitely leading the pack though, watch out for Eric Krasno of Soulive Kickin' a$$ and takin' names. He's the future of jazz guitar!!!!!!

I love this "Moanin", as well as the Mingus song. Art Blakey is incredible. Wynton Marsalis got his start in his band.

Ray Charles also did a great version of Moanin'

brazilian jazz

I would like to recommend you 2 Brazilian discs that were just released (I am living in Rio de Janiero at the moment):
- BADEN POWELL live in Bruxelles, recorded in 1999
- ED MOTTA, Aystelum, you can hear it at http://tudo.americanas.com.br/cgi-bi...Value=aystelum, on the back of the page

The 2 CDs are for the moment unavailable in Australia and in Europe (I’m feeling lucky to be there!!) but you can order it at SAMBASTORE. It’s an excellent Brazilian music store that only offers CDs produced by Brazilian labels. They can deliver anywhere in the world and freight is free for 4 items or more. It’s really worth seeing, have a look and tell me what you think about it, I would appreciate any comment (positive or negative)!!
