Holidays

whats ya favorite holiday and why?

Urban Hat€monger ? 10-25-2005 02:43 PM

St Georges Day should be a national holiday

.angie. 10-25-2005 02:45 PM

Halloween. Why, you ask? Because, you can dress up all silly-like, you get candy. And it's just happy fun and jazzy. That is why I like Halloween.

anticipation 10-25-2005 02:47 PM

In Mexico, you get skulls made entirely out of sugar.

100%!!!!! SUGAR!!!!

adidasss 10-25-2005 02:49 PM

another byassed poll/thread.....*sigh* nobody knows or cares about halloween or thanks giving....

Sneer 10-25-2005 02:50 PM

halloween and christmas. both have more of an atmosphere and sense of occasion then the others. and we in the UK do not celebrate thanksgiving or independance day anyway...add the "jubilee" for cultural equality...oh wait...british people dont give a sh!t about the queen...

Halloweeeeeeen, most definately. One of the few times I can dress up and not look like a total 'tard. I was a pirate last year :) I even had the whole rummy thing goin on, was fun...

.angie. 10-25-2005 03:03 PM

I'm sorry Adidass.. How about you try to celebrate Halloween this year. It's an amazing holiday. It's on the 31st of October. So it's not far away.

Just dress up silly, like a.. pirate! and then you'll celebrate Halloween for once. You should really try it. :)

actually, we have a time of year in which we dress up funny and kids go arround houses for candy, but it's not one day, it's several weeks, it's during the winter and it ends in a big carneval.....we just don't have a holiday that's called halloween....

.angie. 10-25-2005 04:42 PM

Well, at least you have something similar. I would have cried for you if you didn't have a Halloween. And I apologize that this poll is biased.. though, I didn't make it. Still..

adidasss 10-25-2005 05:00 PM

that's allright, but i have to be honest, i do get a little annoyed when the american members of this forum ( and the brittish too ) just start talking about stuff that is only familiar to them with the asumption that everyone knows about it.....i stress the fact that this is an international forum....but i guess such things are inevitable when the majority of the members are from 2 countries....

understandable :shycouch:

.angie. 10-25-2005 05:07 PM

Yes, I can see where that can get annoying. But considering I have NEVER lived anywhere else, I don't know what holidays are in Croatia..

adidasss 10-25-2005 05:08 PM

that's allright...i just had to vent....:)

TheBig3 10-25-2005 08:16 PM

Well if you just asked im sure someone would explain it to you.

I choose Thanksgiving, the American holiday of genocide and blind rape of a native people who we're generally pleasent and had more advanced political sysytems, social philosophy and better calendars. We also gave them small pox infested blankets.

We celebrate it by eating turkey which for those of you who live in part of the world without turkeys is a large form of foul akin to the chicken. It gobbles rather hysterically and has tremendous eyesight. It was almost the American symbol, but someone said "i don't know if the Turkey is the best choice" and so we have the eagle.

I like this holiday most of all because I enjoy turkey and mashed potatoes and that it occationally falls on my birthday.

in case you didn't know, Halloween was originally Spanish, so Thanksgiving is the only one that isnt International.
