The Basketball Thread

I'm a really huge fan of the New York Knicks. Anyone who follows basketball will know that they've played really poorly the last few years, but just in the last week they've started to pick themselves up. I'm hoping that we can maybe squeeze into a playoff spot. Anyone here fans of Basketball?

IamAlejo 12-31-2003 04:40 PM

carmelo anthony is pretty beastly but im a big fan of allen iverson....he grew up and went to high school at hampton high...which is right by where i live.......it may be hard for you all to believe, but i think he was even better at QB, except he was too small

MobilizeTerror 12-31-2003 10:42 PM

Basket what?? lol

Rockafella Skank 01-01-2004 01:18 PM

Funniest thing is that I'm a diehard Knicks fan, but they traded my favorite player (Sprewell). So I don't really have a favorite player now. I can't stay with him being my favorite player now that he's on the competition's team. :D

Hype8 03-28-2005 07:52 AM

old topic.. but the lakers suck..!

Laces Out Dan! 10-28-2005 03:14 PM

Yeah they're cool but what about the new era...Lebron James, Duanne wade, Chris Bosh, Na dthen all the new drafts...salim stoudemire, bogut, feldton...and also im only 15 so i dont really know much about the older days of basketball other than the Legends

Fenixpunk 10-28-2005 03:18 PM

ah, i see, i dont pay to much attention to bball nowdays, but kurt rambus and charles barkley wouldnt hesitate for a second to knock somebody out for looking at them the wrong way. guess you can say they paved the road for players like Ron Artest hehe..

Laces Out Dan! 10-29-2005 12:25 AM

Yeah ron artest is just over doing everything lol

tim christianson 11-01-2005 01:33 AM

my faves,

nowitske, arenas, jamison, magette, redd, james, mcgrady, j. oneal, a. stodamire, wade, i will start with those ten and kick some booty. oh and nick vanexel is from my home town.

davidMC1982 11-01-2005 09:44 AM

I love it. Play it every day where possible. I haven't paid much attention to the NBA recently though. The last thing I remember was Sprewell being banned (think he played for Golden State Warriors at the time). Shaq was still at the Hornets. Jordan retired (although I do recall some of his return with Washington). The US kicked ar$e at the Olympics (Dream Team II), unlike their recent abysmal performance. Iverson was drafted by Philly I think. Must have been about 6 or 7 years ago. '96 through to about 2000.

Coverage here in the UK is pretty sketchy. We used to have a regular 30min show and they'd show some live games. Not sure what we get now.

^Shaq never played for the Hornets, but yeah, that's a pretty long time you've been away.

It's worth watching for a few guys IMO
Lebron James (Cavs), Dwayne Wade (Heat), Vince Carter (Nets), Tracy McGrady (Rockets), Allen Iverson (76ers), Jason Richardson/Baron Davis (Warriors), Rip Hamilton (Pistons). Still none as good as Kurt Rambis.

You're correct, it was Orlando Magic.

There's only one Vince Carter, and Toronto made a big mistake giving him up, despite his low numbers and lack of enthusiasm. All they had to do was put a veteran scorer in the back court, and Toronto would be talking about playoff basketball right now.

adidasss 11-02-2005 04:37 PM

i think a player of carter's calibre deserves to be in a team that actually has a chance to win the championship, he's been stuck in that dead end club for far too many years....

They had to get rid of him because he refused to play...

look out for the lakers this year, with phil back we're going all the way. plus who needs shaq when you have kobe the best player in the nba. shaq is old now, he's not the same laker don't need him

That was dumb..look at what shaq is averaging......Kobe isnt the best player anymore..(if he ever was)...Right now id say that T-Mac is the best player in the NBA.....and im not sure Phil Jackson can really change anything with LA.....They no longer i dont think are in the running for A championship:basketbal

are you serious, t-mac better kobe? don't get me wrong t-mac is probably the second best player in the nba, but look at kobe and t-mac stats and awards, and you will see kobe is far more better than t-mac. as for the lakers, just watch this season and you will see them go all the way.

Laces Out Dan! 11-02-2005 08:19 PM

Kobe used to always be a better player...Not anymore though....especially now with the contribution to houston (Stromile swift)...Houston will be unstopable

Yeah, but the way I see it, they never bothered to surround him with complementary players. And, even if they were going to make a trade, they got basically nothing in return.

Kobe can't play team ball. End of story.

Houston looks good this year. But, I don't think anyone should be thinking championship this year unless you wear a Heat or Spurs jersey.

Adidasss: so who's the next Croatian on the forefront of stardom?

Laces Out Dan! 11-02-2005 10:18 PM

i see where you're coming from about surrounding him with better players.......but on the other hand they have soo much talent...jalen rose has always owned.chris bosh is money....moe pete....They have lots of potential but they need one guy to lead the team and right now its Chris Bosh doing it and hes just to young and un-experienced.......hes amazing but not right for the team leader role

FS7600 11-03-2005 11:20 AM

Garnett is the best all-around player

Laces Out Dan! 11-03-2005 05:06 PM

Garnett is good......but most definetly not best all around.According to NBA /05 he is though lol
