Im having a little problem
I just downloaded an emulator for NES
And now
It says that my computer has been infected with spyware
A big thing replaced my desktop background that says
WARNING
SPYWARE DETECTED ON YOUR COMPUTER
PLEASE INSTALL AN ANTIVIRUS OR SPYWARE REMOVER TO CLEAN UP YOUR COMPUTER

what do I do
please help

Muzak 12-08-2005 04:33 PM

Get Spybot: Search and Distroy, I am serious it works wicked good.

Scarlett O'Hara 12-08-2005 04:34 PM

I think you downloaded a virus hun! Do a virus check. Your computer wouldn't tell you it's spyware unless you had a spyware programme.

adidasss 12-08-2005 05:14 PM

good god man, you new to computers? i don't pay for software, you got shareaza or something p2p? just type spyware doctor and download it, if it's a virus type trend micro free on line virus scan into google, if you got dsl or cable or whateva, it should take a sec to install....

Scarlett O'Hara 12-08-2005 05:14 PM

IT'S A VIRUS. I said that before. That is why you computer is crapping out.

holdyoualways 12-08-2005 05:15 PM

ad-awaree personal and spysweeper both work good and are both free. you can get them at download.com. i beliebe spysweeper is only a 30 day trial though. itll still work if you have a virus, for the time being anyways.

bungalow 12-08-2005 05:16 PM

Ok
The only problem is
I CANT EVEN LOG ON.....it just says "logging on" forever

srry.....im freaking out

adidasss 12-08-2005 05:16 PM

yeah, if the computer won't log on, you're fucked mate. only solution is the painfull and long reinstall process....

adidasss 12-08-2005 05:30 PM

funny thing, it does that with me when i have my bluetooth thingy inserted...then i pull it out and it loggs in....or off.....funny.....

bungalow 12-08-2005 05:31 PM

Any alternate way for me to log in>?

adidasss 12-08-2005 05:33 PM

hmmm....restart? if you can't log on , i'm sorry to tell you this, but you'll have to reinstall.....

Scarlett O'Hara 12-08-2005 05:57 PM

What can I say? After living with a beast that was far worse than your computer will ever be I have learned a way around the bohemoth of Windows.

bungalow 12-08-2005 06:17 PM

Yep
I downloaded a Trojan
that was the problem

IamAlejo 12-08-2005 06:18 PM

Alright I've got a question since we do seem to have some computer guru's in the house (i'm fairly good with comps, this one just has my trouble)

I've got 2 computers in the house, both running through a modem, one hooked up directly to the router, the other wirelessly. The one directly hooked up works, the wireless one refuses to connect to the internet. It says that it is connected, and sends files, but doesn't receive anything (even though it shows that it is connected and has a signal strength that is fairly good). Anyone with any knowledge know what is wrong/how to fix it?

bungalow 12-08-2005 06:19 PM

Oh.
I had this problem with a wireless configuration.
Is it a Linksys configuration?

mosesandtherubberducky 12-08-2005 06:22 PM

I'm not that good with setting stuff up but try to see if your firewall is blocking it or there might be something you need to install on the wireless one. Also try the help center on windows...it is fairly helpful :D

Yeah. It used to work and then just dropped dead one day.

And to whoever said use the windows help thing, I've tried that. No dice.

bungalow 12-08-2005 06:35 PM

Ok.......go to your Internet Options
Click Connections
Click LAN settings
Click....automatically detect settings

If that doesnt work
Right click on the Linksys icon....and click repair
It should work
If not......go into the Linksys settings and Refresh your IP address and then try the Repair thing again

IamAlejo 12-08-2005 06:48 PM

How do you refresh your IP address? I'm having trouble with that one.

And the first two failed.

bungalow 12-08-2005 06:51 PM

Right click on the Green box icon with the black connection lines, it should pull up the linksys connections
....and the 1st 2 failed....
geez
well
linksys is a pain
