"Merry Christmas" vs "Happy Holidays"

there is this big controversy over sayig "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays". In our wal-mart we aren't aloud to say "Merry Christmas". We have to say "Happy Holidays". Apparently some people get offended by merry christmas. personly i don't think we should have to stop saying it because it has the word christ in it. what do yall think?

HAHA you should say happy exmass and then see what damn walmart says.

This type of political correctness really gets up my nose.

Through personal experience I've found that the perception of offending non christians is unfounded.

Asians for example are not offended by christmas, but by assuming they are, only fuels resentment amongst rascists and the ignorant.

The whole exersize is counterproductive.

Should'nt this thread be in the lounge?

^I agree.

It's really lame. I can't think of a non-Christian friend on mine who gets offended by Merry Christmas. It's the meaning behind the meaning that people don't get. Its a wish for happiness and joy. Not only on Christmas day, but throught the year. Political Correctness it's getting outta hand.

Just recently some of Bush strongest supporters got pissed at him cause he sent out holiday cards saying "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas"...which seems odd, since he used so much of the strong religious background to get elected, then doesn't have the backbone to put it on a damn Christmas card to his supporters.

Political correctness is so dull.....

Imonlydancing 12-15-2005 02:14 PM

We don't say happy holidays in England.
So yeah.
I spose 'happy christmas' is not offending...
some people of other religions are allowed to miss the church service we have at school.

How excited my kids will be on 'holiday' eve, as they lie in their beds waiting with anticipation for 'holiday' day to dawn.

The look on their faces as they see the mountain of 'holiday' presents piled high, underneath the undecorated 'holiday' tree.

The joy at the knowledge, that Father Holiday has not forgotten them.

The magic and wonder that is 'holiday day'.
