Argument and debate are the tools of learning and ultimately lead to knowledge.

In Tibet, Buddhist Monks are encouraged to argue and debate between themselves on topics they may not necessarily agree with.
The point being is to understand the subject fully.

If you come to a conclusion after an argument...it means you have'nt thought about it enough.

In a purely inquisitive manner:

I just want to ask what the purpose of this is. Whats the message behind this thread? Is it a suggestion that we as a forum are becoming too pc by not allowing arguments to fully develop into informative conversations?

Or should we just remember what an argument really is?

IamAlejo 12-29-2005 11:29 PM

Basically me and Franscar?

TheBig3 12-30-2005 01:09 AM

Take from it what you want, I had my reasons for posting it. I could tell you why, but I have a feeling that if I told you why I posted it people would get defensive (you know they would) and it would loose its meaning.

By just putting it up, you get out of it what you put into it.

And Alejo, what are you talking about?

Cheese 12-30-2005 01:50 AM

G'wan. You can tell us!

Scarlett O'Hara 12-30-2005 01:54 AM

I already know, it's about the sxc thread. How are we supposed to "learn" from this if we don't know what our individual faults are.

What, our little altercation?

P.S An apology is in order.I shouldn't have gone off like that.

Guess it was the perfect end to the perfect day...........not.

Scarlett O'Hara 12-30-2005 02:01 AM

No, I apogise, I was being ignorant and needed to get off my high horse. I guess I cared so much that I disregarded someone who actually had real experience.

*hugs cheeseman*

Cheese 12-30-2005 02:04 AM

It's all good:)

*hugs Vanilla back*

I could have responded a bit more diplomatically though.

TheBig3 12-30-2005 03:29 PM

I didn't read the sxe thread, so I don't know what your talking about.

This was posted for a reason, and to Vanilla, you do it through self reflection.

Scarlett O'Hara 12-30-2005 07:15 PM

Eeeee. Well there's a few people posting in the sxc thread who should read this!

Some people may reflect but be blinded to see what others really see...

Hahha. All the sponsored links at the top are like "Mr Creamy Vanilla farm" and shizz. Made me chuckle.

But, erm, yeah, backing up arguments with an actual argument, not opinion and stuff.. Yeah.

Heh, sorry :)

Scarlett O'Hara 12-30-2005 07:19 PM

Hehe, there's one called "Be Raw And Slim"....wtf? RAW!!

The main use of an argument is for entertainment, everyone knows that.
