Hostel

I am truly scared to see this movie.

My friend Braga and I made the mistake of watching the German trailer (completly unedited) and I still have bad dreams.

We pre-ordered tickets for the premier today. oh gosh
It's kinda funny actually cause I'm taking a girl to see this. She ain't gonna like it.

anyone else going to brave it?

MURDER JUNKIE 12-30-2005 10:10 PM

I can't wait!!! That is going to rule. A real horror movie for once

BlueEyedSuicide 12-30-2005 10:12 PM

I was watching t.v. last night and a preview came on for it.. I figured it was just the typical trailer..

Errm.. I almost started crying. There is no way in HELL I'm going to see it if the TRAILER nearly caused tears.. However, if you like horror flicks..

IamAlejo 12-30-2005 10:59 PM

I touch myself everytime i watch the trailor on the computer. Which is about every other minute.

IamAlejo 12-30-2005 11:00 PM

O by the way...post that german trailor. I'm trying to see that sheezy.

riseagainstrocks 12-31-2005 10:52 AM

They took it down. It was that graphic.

make out movie? no. will I make it one? yes.

Cameron 12-31-2005 11:03 AM

I am gonna go see it. It looks scary as hell, but I like horror. What's with Quentin Tarantino and horror movies all of a sudden? Didn't he produce Wolf Creek too?

IamAlejo 12-31-2005 01:10 PM

No. He just made a review for Wolf Creek I believe. And I didn't like Wolf Creek in all honesty.

All I remember is Tarentino saying it was the scariest movie in the past 10 years or something to that extent.

madeinNY 12-31-2005 01:12 PM

Why haven't I ( a horror movie junkie) heard about this movie?? Does it have a US release??

IamAlejo 12-31-2005 01:34 PM

Yes...January 6th i wanna say.

madeinNY 12-31-2005 01:41 PM

Ooh, ok, thanks Alejo.

mosesandtherubberducky 12-31-2005 03:05 PM

Yeah...I'm scared of it...the whole toe deal got me. I like to keep all my digits on feet and hands to myself no chopping them off...*shudder*

riseagainstrocks 12-31-2005 03:40 PM

the drill through the kneecap did it for me. i'm a runner...ouch.

and it is the 6th in the States

madeinNY 12-31-2005 04:57 PM

Is it going to be like Saw?

Oh, the 6th, thanks rar.

EDGE 01-06-2006 04:48 PM

My friend told me he's taking me to it tommorow.
I'm .. scared.

TheBig3 01-06-2006 04:53 PM

I don't think it will be as psychological as saw which was really well thought out, and by all definitions, a greek tragedy.

Hostel looks like over the top violence, but as they say, it scares you more when you know its coming. When they screened it at a film festivel in Toronto, they had to bring two ambulances for people who got sick during the viewing.

minus the acting, Saw is one of my favorite movies. Word to that.

TheBig3 01-06-2006 05:40 PM

What was wrong with the acting, I honestly don't recall it being so bad

riseagainstrocks 01-06-2006 05:43 PM

Cary Elwes = Never moving past Robin Hood: Men In Tights.

He just didn't do it for me. Overly melo-dramatic. Everyone else was quite good however.

IamAlejo 01-06-2006 10:33 PM

THIS IS EASILY THE MOST GRUESOME MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN.

Not the greatest story line, but it's a decent plot. Lots of titties and sex, almost the entire first 20 minutes.

But when it gets to the graphic stuff, I had that throw up feeling. I can easily see why people had to have ambulances come. Tarentino does a decent job while making sure it's not too much over the top by adding some comedic interventions. It's a wild ass movie, and I suggest anyone go see it (but not those with too faint of heart...it's a waste of money. I brought a girl and she paid 8.50 to stare at her hand in front of her face for about an hour of the movie)

riseagainstrocks 01-06-2006 10:37 PM

Oh gosh. I'm bringing a girl too actually. And she's squeamish as hell. bad. idea.

way to go ian.

half_baked87 01-06-2006 11:53 PM

bad idea? hell thats a good idea, thats when they bury their face in you're chest trying to look away, and then its all but a zip and a firm push downwards.....

back on topic, i hate horror movies, unless they're smart and actually SCARY (with the exception of evil dead), and this one looks like it might be both. want to see it for sure.

I like the way you think :pimp:

Decoy 01-07-2006 07:44 AM

i went to go see it last night, its pretty dissapointing. i suggest everyone wait for the DVD

IamAlejo 01-07-2006 08:50 AM

If you're talking about storyline alone, I can see what you're saying with that statement.

Decoy, how many people left the theater during that first torture scene? I saw at least 25 of a theater of maybe 200 or 300 get up and leave during it.

jibber 01-10-2006 09:05 PM

saw it last night. was anyone else laughing hysterically at the end when they're walking around the train platform and no-one looks twice at the japanese chick? is that a normal sight in bratislava?

Man, I thought Evil Dead was ****ing terrifying! But then, that might have something to do with the fact that I was on shrooms at the time.

Anyway, I might end up going to see this with some friends at some point. Or I might wait for it on DVD. I don't really care one way or the other.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 01-10-2006 09:34 PM

This movie sucked. Weak plot, weak gore, stupidest main character in the history of a horror movie. It goes from softcore porno to an attempt to be scary, then it just becomes a Vin Dieselesque revenge flick. By the way, everyone, the toe scene is way too hyped up, they don't even show it. The whole thing was laughable. In fact, I'd say just leave after you watch the first friend get tortured, because that and the 40 minutes of naked chicks was the only thing that held my attention.
