Do you watch TV?

I've been thinking about this for a while now. And I was just wondering, do any of you actually watch TV? (Cable, satellite, digital, terrestrial, but not videos)

I've stopped watching it. I used to watch it quite a bit, but these days the commercials are so long and so lame that it's not really worth it any more. Most my friends have stopped watching it also. They just wait for their favorite TV shows to come out on DVD or video. It's the same with me.

I'm starting to think now that it's a little crazy how I thought that I couldn't live without it. What about you?

I watch comedy central, espn in the morning, and whenever something good is on i wanna watch.

But don't you find the adverts just slightly annoying? I clocked them at 5 minutes once. 5 minutes of adverts for every 15 minutes of programming!

IamAlejo 06-13-2004 10:56 AM

Not really, I'll just change the channel when ads come on.

Yeah that's what I did, but the cable company I'm with are cunning, in that they've got all the stations to show their adverts at the exact same time, so you can't escape them.

IamAlejo 06-13-2004 11:01 AM

It's not the cable company that does that. The cable company gives the rights to program stations on that one, so normally you can find something that has no ads on at the moment.

Hmm. Well whoever is doing it, sure as hell is annoying.

I can live with commercials, if anything they're good because I can grab a snack, go to the bathroom, make a phonecall, kind of like an intermission. Plus I can just tune them out. I have the unique ability to turn off my brain when I'm bored, comes in handy at school. Whether you want to pay attention to commercials or not is really your choice. Plus the networks have to get payed somehow.

IamAlejo 06-14-2004 08:10 PM

Exactly. Those cable networks aren't paying them much.
