Ulu Rant

so, test icicles gig last night at the ULU...i had been waiting to see them for 4 months, got the tickets (that btw only said "14+"). i get there about 6.30 where upon we join a qeue which ends up lasting 2 AND A HALF hours in the freezing cold winters night. during thid qeue security guards regularly come up and say to people "only people of 14+ can enter"...considering im 18 i do not worry. we FINALLY get to the doors, and ive been told that despite the fact i had no ID on me id easily get let in as long as im with a mate of 18 who has ID. so yeah, we get to the doors, i state how i dont have it on me but my freind does, and what does the fat, balding **** say to me? "**** off you aint coming in with no ID"...so me and the gf have to go. considering the age limit was 14 and im 4 years over that (i look my age too, i have a lip piercing for **** sakes which in the UK you cant get done until 18)and little emo kids no older then 13 are getting in!!!! if ID was required, they should have STATED IT ON THE TICKET. ok im done, but beware, the ULU is a diabolical place.

are you saying you bought the tickets and didn't get it?

if so.....that blows.....beyond belief.....and on test icicles? oh man.....i feel for ya.....

well, now you'll know better for next time....

Complain to the ULU and demand your money back. Take them to court if you don't, demanding that they compensate everyone who was unfairly turned away. As I gather, Test Icicles are as pissed about it as you are.

I didn`t get let into a pub without ID when I was 26 once.

AND I USED TO WORK THERE

Do what Fal said, I'd be doing something along those lines if that were me. They've created alsorts of wrongs in turning you away. Theres false advertising, discrimination, unfair practise. Alsorts. Get your money back.

If you truly hate the club, throw incendiary devices in the windows.

yep. that's my advice.

make sure you have a friend who drives really fast waiting for you.

the fact i threw my ticket at the doorman in disgust doesnt help my cause in taking legal action seeing as i have no hard evidence anymore. if within the next couple of days it appears in the newspaper that "the University of London Union is petrol bombed", you know where the source lies.

damn. good ass band too. i've had that almost happen before, but with enough bitching got my way in.

MUST point out at least he's 18 and can go wherever he wants (cept the ULU maha). meanwhile some people have to wait 6 more LONGARSE months to go anywhere with mates that involves I.D. that they all have. This results in me sitting infront of my computer on my own tonight while all my friends are in the biggest club in our collection of towns. It makes me sick at times it really does.

Subject: ULU **** up...result!
Body: yo yo!

we have finally managed to sort out the nightmare of the ulu gig last week...

anyone who got knocked back can get in touch with the person below and if you send them your unused/undamaged ticket from the gig you can get into the astoria gig on 22nd april for free!

laurie.pegg@ulu.lon.ac.uk

unfortunately although that gig will be 14+ too, anyone under 16 will need to be 'accompanied by an adult over 18' (and 18 year olds will need id).

oh, and you need to have done this by the 28th february............. latest.

peace x
