Lead Paint...FFS, shut up already.

Alright, people over here in NY are freaking out over the lead paint in their old houses. Now I understand it can do stuff to the head and seriously fuck you up, but seriously, unless you're a beaver or something and eat wood I don't think you need to worry.

And if you eat wood, you have bigger problems than lead paint.

Now, my granpa's a mason/contractor/all around know's-his-shit construction guy, and there's not a person in construction that doesn't know his name in the tri-state area. He said the exact same thing I did, along with the beaver comment. Not to mention he's a lead-paint expert.

What's your opin. on this?

^ I don't know. People in England sometimes worry about asbestos in their old homes. Breathe in the dust and you could die. It's f**king serious....

Mama Booze 02-22-2006 09:36 AM

These two things [abestos and lead paint] are way different...
My granpa used to come home from work with asbestos on his clothes, and it gave him and my gram a lung disease...
And now they're suing the tobbacco company lol.
But anyway, like I said, unless you're eating the pain [[or sanding it, for that matter]] you won't have to worry about the lead paint.

Anyone born in the 1960's-1970's knows just how serious it is, birth defects and Cancer and stuff. You are sitting in front of your computer look it up for Christ's sake

Mama Booze 02-22-2006 09:39 AM

What, asbestos or lead paint?

MURDER JUNKIE 02-22-2006 09:44 AM

either would be a decent place to start

Mama Booze 02-22-2006 09:46 AM

I never said asbestos wasn't very serious.

It's lead paint I'm un-concerned about....it was painted years ago, it's not in the air anymore unless you sand it off [[which I advise against]], and unless you're eating the wood there's not a way it can get into you.

MURDER JUNKIE 02-22-2006 09:48 AM

sources???

Lead paint expert...been working with it ever-since ever. They want him to teach a class. [[he was a teacher for 2 odd years, teaching construction now that I think of it...]]

I highly doubt if you did an internet search it would say the same thing. Anyway if you need any work whatsoever done on your home (as most do in their lifetime) the house needs to be evacuated professionally cleaned etc and will cost you a lot more. Most contractors around here wont even touch it
