Best thing that happened in your life.

What is the best thing that has ever happened in your life. It could be anything you want, just say what it was.

When it dawned on me that peace comes from within, and that the only way people can disrupt that peace is if you let them.

haha, what? it's true. skiing is the only thing that makes me completely at peace and happy no matter what kind of state i'm in. no matter what's going on, the minute I click into my bindings, i forget everything and anything except what's happening that second.

Kinda like me when I drink beer, except I don't even know what's happening that second :pimp:

His current avatar is a photo of Tenzin Gyatso (the fourteenth Dalai Lama), indicatory of a likely interest in Tibetan Buddhism. Meditation plays a significant role in Tibetan Buddhist rituals, and as far as I know, two of the predominant objectives of meditation are to achieve enlightenment and tranquility.

I'm sure he meant, well...exactly what he said. Peace of mind materializes entirely within yourself, and nobody can haul you out of that cerebral utopia unless you allow them to do so.

I see where you're coming from.I'm exactly the same when working on a car.
The beauty of it is seeing it come together piece by peice until you have the completed vehicle.

They are my children you know;) seeing as I hate kids.

And anyways the best thing that's happened to me would have to be my fiance.:D

blackTshirt 03-21-2006 12:47 AM

meeting the love of my life
cause without him, music and everything else i care about wouldn't mean that much to me
and meeting him implied meeting me.. so yeah

The birth of my two children. Easily the best day's of my life, that and United winning the European Cup. :)

Jr. I envy where your mind is at, it's achievable I know...maybe one day.

When I met my girlfriend. Once I met her, each of us knew that we were made for eachother, We've been going out for about five and a half weeks now and steadily moving forward, but our love has never been so strong.

(I know it sounds soon, but you all know when you just have that feeling, thats what I have...)

And learning to play my baby (guitar), and finally having the patients to learn how to slolem, and after two years and alot of concussions, I can finally master it.

It means, simply, that everyone is born with a still spirit and a peaceful soul. The experiences you have in your lifetime cannot affect the quiet, that calm, that is at everyone's core. Unless, of course, you choose to let it.

Say there is a person in your life that makes you angry, for whatever reason. That person isn't doing anything more than being who they are. How you recieve that person dictates how peaceful you remain inside. If you let yourself become upset because that person is a jackass, then not only is that person living their life, they are affecting how you live yours.

They are getting inside you, down towards your peaceful core. And, the only way they can do that, like I said, is if you let them. You control how you feel, not anyone else. When I realized that, my life became still, and quiet, and peaceful. I lived a lot of years angry, because I let people dictate my feelings, simply by reacting to their inane behavior.

A peaceful spirit is something everyone has. The key to being in touch with it is not to look outward for peace, but inward. A mistake I made was, trying to take in peace, when in fact, I should have been pushing out unrest that was inside me. I wasn't empty, I was too full. Doing it backwards. I was trying to add peace, when the peace was there already, hidden under the anger and turmoil. Rather than add, I bagan subtracting things, shovelling out the bad, to get to the good.

That's not a fact, that's just my belief. It works for me. And don't get me wrong...I am no where near where I need to be, spiritually. I have taken, like, three steps on a thousand mile walk. But at least now, I know, I am walking in the right direction.

DontRunMeOver 03-24-2006 05:14 PM

Hmm, thinking about it at the moment, the two best things that have happened in my life may well be...

Being snogged by my best friend's girlfriend, when I was 18
AND
Getting dumped by my ex-girlfriend, aged 19 (well, I think she dumped me, that's my line anyway)

Why? Because these were probably the two events which happened TO me which have given me the biggest kicks up the ass. Since then, lots of other really great things have happened but without those two original stimuli I never would have developed the balls or desire to get going.

Going out with my now girlfriend is also a brilliant thing, but it probably wouldn't have happened without the other two events.

He inspires me with his knowage and he has kind personality which is lacking in most other fourm members i know. he helps take up for the younger less knowagable ones, where some cut them down.
