First what OS are you running because if it isn't windows you'll have to get Wine for linux or you could get boot camp if you have a Mac then you could get a pirated windows OS and run both along side eachother. That'd be good. But if you have a Mac I will pray for you, they suck horribly

I have windows but doc is gonna send me winrar already installed so, all is fixed.

ok, i'm not even sure if the boy is here any more but just the same, anyone else with rudimentary computer knowledge can answer...

so i got a flat rate account right, and i'm downloading tv shows and films. now, i would preffer to watch them on the tv so i wanna burn then on a dvd. today i downloaded nero 7.5.7 and tried to burn the dave chapelle show season one. it has about 4gb of data...and when i put it to burn...after about a minute of "processing data to burn" windows crashed on me.

now here are my questions, i have a 2gb CPU, a 40Gb main drive ( plain old ATA ), a 200gb slave ( SATA through a PCI adapter cos my motherboard doesn't support SATA ) and 512mb of ram ( make that 700-and-somethin, i bought an aditional 512mb of good ol DDR ( again, the motherboard doesn't support DDR2 ) in adition to the pre-existing 512 but it's only showin 700-somethin...dunno why )....isn't that quite enough power to burn a DVD? i mean, what kind of a computer do i have to have to burn a DVD, one of them mega-fuckin-computers NASA uses?!

i'm assuming some of you are burning DVDs...what configurations do you have?

does anyone know why i might be having problems? ( in adition to the windows crashing when i try to burn a DVD, they often freeze when i do multitasking ( yes, men can do it to.....or is it because i'm gay?:-/) which never happened while i was just downloading music and had only one hard drive.....

is it that my computer is having difficulties processing so much data ( tv-series and films bittorrent style ) or is the new hard drive connected unnaturally to the motherboard where the problem lies?

help me solve this puzzle....do i need a new computer?

what is this "DVD shrink" you speak of? the download says DVD rip, i can only assume that means the data can fit perfectly onto a dvd no? at first it told me that there isn't enough space on the hard drive but then i chose the wirte directly to dvd option....is that why it had problems processing it?

and we don't buy ready made computers here, we make a compilation ourselves....

ctrl alt del doesn't solve anything once your computer freezes....oddly enough...it used to...that's why i loved windows xp...just ctrl alt del and shut down the frozen program....now the whole system goes crazy.....methinks something is rotten in the state of denmark...but could it be?

see the comp help thread,
does your comp reckgonize the 200 gig that you put in there with the adapter, because if not, it may be your bus speeds

to keep it in one thread, yes i know it's you mikey
the computer sees the disk otherwise i couldn't download data onto it...but the repair man had some problems installing it as the master, said it didn't register...but as a slave it does......i swear, this shit only happens to me...

no i couldn't because they don't have ata's anymore apparently....well not 200gigs or more, and anything less is useless...

could it be that i haven't partitioned the 200 gig drive?

tdoc210 11-18-2006 09:58 AM

hmm i highly doubt it, but ill look into it, because it should usually only be partioned when it has an OS on it, and you say you use your 40gig for that, it should just pop up in your my computer thing, then right click and get properties see how much is actually being reckgonized, because, some OS's canot suppoer more tha 200gigs
