St Georges Day

And what better way to celebrate it with a dinner of roast beef & yorkshire puddings a nice bottle of olde english scrumpy to wash it down , followed by an FA cup semi final on the telly. You can shove your Guinness & St Patricks Day up your arse. Should be a public holiday. |
Thankyou, thankyou and THANKYOU. I actually forgot to make a thread on this because St Georges day has been so rudely disregarded. My Mom's mate works in the Post Office and she had a St Georges flag on her desk. Her boss told her to put it away because it might cause other races to get annoyed. So then we're not allowed to put up an English flag in England? For me, that doesn't stop racism, that causes more. Basically everyone loves St Patricks day because it's an excuse for the drunks to get drunk again, and no one can say a word against them because it's all in the name of St Patrick.

It should be a public holiday. And why should the English be made to feel as though we shouldn't have a national identity, in the way Scotland, Wales and Ireland have?
When the Scots, Welsh and Irish go all 'nationalistic', it's called patriotism, but when the English do it...it's racism. :( Here in Manchester (as with other places around England) St. George's Day isn't even celebrated. Manchester has a massive Irish community and everyone here celebrates St.Patrick's Day with enthusiasm (me included), but I'd like to see St.George's Day promoted and celebrated in the same way. It's almost as if the English are embarrassed to show their national identity, unless it comes to Football. |
Apparently St Georges Day memorabilia sales are up by 300% this year.
I don`t know why it isn`t a public holiday.Seem stupid not to have it as one when there`s May Day the following week which is a bloody Russian public holiday. |
They're not embarrassed, they are oppressed. Fight for Freedom, fellow patriots!

Not until recently has the Cross Of St.George been flown by the English, before it was always the Union Jack. I love that flag, especially as there was no trace of Wales in it. Attachment 1606 click ^ |
and you ask why the english nationalists are hated? pfft.

Seriously though, why do the Welsh dislike the English so much? I don't mean you personally (I wouldn't assume you do) but in general? |
