I don't get it. Am I missing something? It is summer in New Zealand at the moment so they probably do have sun and blue skies...

PapercutCheeto 11-30-2010 08:24 PM

New York's weather is so random. It's pretty much December and one night it can be 65 and the next 35. It's a joke.

It could have been a reply to my posting that's above it.
But on a second glance... Probably not.

Well I'm 26 now and I've never encountered snow in November.
Global Warming? Seems more like the Netherlands are cooling down really fast.
We had a lot of snow last year as well

I just moved here from Houston so I hardly encountered any snow there. I'm just a little anxious to finally be able to build a balling (no pun intended) snowman.

s_k 11-30-2010 08:43 PM

The Americans are often made fun of in Europe because some of them think that Paris is a country or that the Netherlands are a city in Germany.
But it's not like we now what country is in what state.
I had to look up Houston and apparently it's in Texas.

As far as I've seen on TV, new york can be very snowy.
I think the weather there is a bit like here in the Netherlands, only a tad more extreme :)

We've had tiny amounts of snow for the past few Novembers here in Toronto. Not anything crazy though. It's the kind that's on the ground in the morning and gone by the afternoon. I can't wait for an actual snowstorm!

s_k 11-30-2010 08:48 PM

that would be brilliant.
It's remarkable how many people want it to snow here.
On my own Dutch forum, there's about two people, other than me, who like snow.
The others just moan about the cold and the discomfort

I actually like snow. It's nice and peaceful when it's falling, and the way it falls on different objects like houses, cars, and especially trees is quite beautiful. And it's always quiet outside when it's snowing. I guess the snow sort of muffles sound. I don't mind driving in it, just have to be careful, and I don't mind shovelling it either.

Me too. Snow allows amateurs like me to take unusual photos. For instance, you don't see a snowy Egyptian temple every day:

(Yes, I wrote "an Egyptian temple" :))

Honestly, that's the only "collateral effect" I appreciate. The rest are nothing but wishful thoughts and strange dreams...

I love to see it fall. And it makes everything look so peaceful!
The sound is brilliant too. I like muffled sound. Buildings that have an echo really bother me. I really arrange and furnish my house to get the sound as echo-free as possible.

and I love driving in the snow.
Going sidewaaaays
Going more sidewaaays.
Lot of handbrake action there (I don't know what it's like overthere now, but america used to have a lot of rwd cars. We don't have those here, so I'll have to resort to my handbrake..).

We had some more snowfall this night.

A friend of mine who's a bit of a dealer in vintage audio came to help me clean my basement. He took a lot of equipment with him and... Well he got stuck in our garden with his van.

Glad we have a lot of farmers here...

Subtitles belonging to the first show (Before we knew this was going to happen):
Allard: "He's never going to get out of this"
Me: "I am indeed a bit worried"
Allard: "We can always get a tractor"
Me: "Yes, indeed"

Let's just say if by some miracle God exists, then we could all agree he's being a total c:)nt with the weather in Chicago.

s_k 12-12-2010 07:21 PM

What's the weather like in chicago?
(apart from windy)

Apparently they're getting blizzard-like snow squalls there. But I can't be sure, I don't live in Chicago!

Here, we were supposed to get 10 cm of snow but instead got a whole lot of rain.

s_k 12-12-2010 08:13 PM

I kind of like the idea of loads of snow ;).

zachsd 12-13-2010 12:13 AM

In Los Angeles today: 85 F

And yeah, it was blizzarding in Chicago.

s_k 12-13-2010 06:38 AM

26,6F here.

ThePhanastasio 12-13-2010 06:55 AM

Yesterday at about 4AM, it was raining, but it was also 45 degrees. By 6pm yesterday, it was in the 20s.

Then the weather decided it wanted to turn to complete bull****. It's windy, snowy, and 15 degrees (not accounting for wind chill) and it's now snowing like mad with a few inches of accumulation already, and hazardous roadways.

And I'm out of alcohol.

I wish I was in LA! It's -22 C (or -8 F) here today with the wind chill, snowing a whole lot, and very windy. Almost like Chicago.

s_k 12-13-2010 04:34 PM

-22.
Brilliant :D

It was -3 outside here.
My dad was complaining about the temperature and not feeling his vingers whilst working on my car. I was unscrewing some screws and hadn't got a clue what he was on about.
I really don't mind cold. You can dress to match it and even if I don't I can still stand quite a bit of it :)

poppie 12-23-2010 06:44 PM

-7 C where i am, it was -15 C last night. There's still a lot of snow here and it's showing no sign of disappearing. My car is completely frozen and won't start, it may take a few more days before it thaws out.

s_k 12-24-2010 09:29 AM

About 40 centimetres of snow here...

We have almost nothing here. A couple of inches of snow at the most. It was a rare, almost-green Christmas. But then again, it's only December, and in some years past we have had huge snowfalls in late March/early April.

poppie 12-27-2010 04:45 AM

Well i just got up and its still coming down hard fast and furious!
winds are like 50 mph they predict another 10 inches ontop of
what we got now which is over 12 inches on the ground already.
