Mainstream vs. Underground

In the spirit of my two previous threads here in The lounge I decided to add yet another age old question, what makes you prefer one or the other, mainstream music or underground music. Rap, rock, whatever.:bringit:

Neither

I couldn`t care less if a band is on a major or an indie label

The only thing I care about is if and when bands switch over to mainstream if they dumb down their music to sell records that pisses me off. Other than that popularity and goodness are not related.

But on the other hand you get bands on small labels where they just do what the hell they like & release albums of crap time & time again.

I.E. Black Flag after 1983.

I didn't say anything about the label. The label has nothing to do with it. Take(just for exapmle) Psychopathic Records, they're a large company now, you still won't find their music on the radio.

Didn't I say it was just and example? They became major when they became a multi-million dollar corporation.

My War is one of Black Flags best album and then you have Who's Got The 101/2 which is a great live record. They may have gone downhill but Black Flag never released crap until they split up. Greg Ginns solo work in particular is horrible.
