I think Moore has a point that violence in the US is too high, but I think he goes off in the wrong direction by trying to point blame where he does. I mean, the NRA? And yeah he manipulates a lot of things knowingly. The movie is titled from what ONE student said (who later repealed their statement). When the teacher and all the other students said the killers were not bowling that morning, Moore kept the title.

For every good point he makes, he screws something up.

And besides, I think his guerilla tactics are always rude and uncalled for.

More stuff on the lies/twisting of Moore.

yes moore is biased, of course he is, there's no point in debating that. However, you all make it out to seem like moore has been marketing his documentaries as complete fact, which simply is not the case. If you've ever seen moore in interviews you would know that he states quite clearly that yes, of course his movies are biased, because they refelct his own opinions. He says that the whole point of his movies are to get his opinions out into the world in a form that is accesible to everyone. Having said that, I think he does have a few very good points, but I definitely dont agree with everything that he says. He is a brilliant researcher, and his movies are proof of the tremendous amount of effort he puts into researching the topics he discusses. Unfortunately, I for one think that at times, he takes it over the top, making him come off as a fanatic at times, which distracts people from the information he puts out there. his movies are not designed to present information in a entirely factual, non-bias way. The facts are mixed in with opinion, and they are fairly easy to separate. His movies are supposed to shock people into considering the issues he brings up, they're supposed to attempt to shake people's beliefs, and maybe get them to reconsider their opinions. So of course he's not going to go about it in a non-bias way.

He twists facts, shows footage which doesn't relate, he tries to make you see things in his point of view while giving you a biased footage WHICH he does claim is fact. Or claims them to be "actual" events while giving footage of something totally different.

moores editorial movies are not used as tools of information,

a democrat will go in there and vote dem
a republican will go in there and vote rep
and the swing votes will go just as they normally do, because his tactis will split the swing votes evenly, some will hatte him some will love him

people know rush limbaugh is an idiot, even republicans
it is funny that democrats can not admit moore is just as bad

Exactly, but there are people who know nothing about politics, go to the movies and see his documentary, and come out seeing just one side to a story. I agree, the same thing happens with Rush Limbaugh, but I'm not sure to the same extent. I just don't see something like the radio influencing someone as much as a movie would. Maybe its just me.

And on the flipside there are people who know nothing about politics, don't go the movies and don't see his documentary, and don't see his side of the story. Then they happen to catch a nice piece on George W. in a friendly newspaper and vote Bush. It's swings and roundabouts, and until the mainstream media finds a central footing and paints both sides of the picture, then that is the way it will remain.

Most of our news bashes Bush except for Fox News Channel. And I just noticed you were from Birmingham. I heard wonderful things about it from my sister. She went overseas and studied at Birmingham University for 2 semesters.

I start at Birmingham Uni in two months time, reading Economic and Social History. It's a lovely university, and we all talk in a funny voice as well. I'm sure she'd be more than welcome back.

IamAlejo 07-20-2004 01:16 PM

She liked it wonders, but I think she said something about how the exchange students weren't liked as much. She did say it was beautiful though. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. She's returned to UVA though, and I'm not sure she plans on going back overseas for school. But who knows?
