Well, banknotes are made from paper, which is made from wood pulp, which is made from cellulose, which grows on trees. So when you take it back to the starting-point... money DOES grow on trees. Larger denominations at least.

I don't know about UK money (or Croatian, for that matter), but isn't US money made out of cotton or something? It was in that riddle in Inside Man, it wasn't paper.

yeah it's a mixture of cotton and paper (US money anyway)
