I agree we should remove it from our daily lexicon but to infer (not that you did) that using it is prejudice or insensitive is not necessarily true.

Point taken. It's still irksome.

I can certainly understand why. I don't think there is anything wrong with asking your friends not to say it around you either. To reiterate the main point is that it's not a term of hate more often then not.

I wonder where them kids learned the term if they didn't know about sexuality or since nobody says *** as happy anymore.

From other brothers and sisters and kids in school.

gay meant lame way before it meant gay.

Yep, I completely understand what you're saying.

I don't agree with this, however.

I believe it's still carrying the connotation, but the ignorance makes it where straight little kids won't be like "nuh uh!". It's like if I went around callin other kids nigga not knowing it's an insult to black people. Kinda. Because then those black kids would have to not know what it means either.

Still, I think it still has the negativity against gay people, it's just going out into space with the group of kids using it.

Kinda.

It's not like that at all. To your point though I think some a major difference is that *** doesn't have a negative connotation. It's not a slight.

I understand why people see it used in it's slang form as a slight and as I said, it'd be nice if it went away, but it usually is used to mean nothing homophobic or prejudice at all.

Surell 06-05-2009 11:04 PM

If you call someone ***, it's usually negative because usually you're either using it in the sense of stupid, pretty much implying being *** is stupid, or you're calling someone's sexuality into question and not accepting anything different than straight.

I dunno, you're making this complicated because I'm right. (/tease if you didn't know)

I meant Gay as meaning Homosexual is not a negative word.

The Slang is negative, but not homophobic.

Lets end this discussion huh?
