Bush and Cronies Look More Attractive

As has been done before, the proposal to eliminate the old and outdated institutution such as the IRS has been brought up again. Bush has this as one of his goals for the second term. Where this would be very hard to push, it is respectable that he has made this decision.

A VAT tax would instead take the place of the unconstituional income tax. VAT taxes are progressive and make it so that people who have more disposable income get taxed more [if they use it]

I'll wait to see if anyone cares before I discuss it =p

I've hated income tax forever. It just doesn't make sense to me. A disposable income still will deal with income but it seems a little better.

not rly to do with income cause i described it poorly

necessities [food basic clothes non taxable or minimal taxing]....

but as far as luxuries go.. take cars for example... $0-15,000 (5%), $15,001-25,000 (7%), $25,001-50,000 (9%), $50,001-100,000 (12%).... so on

because if you can afford a 100,000 car you can afford the 12% $12,000
however someone who buys a 10,000 car may not be able to afford the 12% $1200, but only the 5% $500...

to me this is a very good system.. progressive VAT

another added benefit is that this will allow the american economy to grow quicker and close the gap in income disparity

it will allow below poverty families to get away each year with barely paying any taxes and saving up to become middle class and get a home/car/etc...

I like the way it sounds. What I meant is that the people bringing in more income are normally the ones that have the expensive cars etc. So it's still like a income tax. But it sounds a lot better, of course I hate the income tax so....

yeah, We the People is also trying to file a lawsuit saying the 16th amendment and income tax were illegally added..

I don't believe in punishing people for being rich, isn't America about equality?

Majority of income tax is imposed by states so it would take quiet a bit to change it. Though, I'm a Bush supporter myself.

it is about equality, a rich man and a poor man should have an equal chance at affording dinner and a place to live.

So tax the rich man more because he's rich and makes more money?

ffmariners 08-02-2004 10:48 PM

tax the rich man because he will not notice the loss of money as much

do you think that someone who makes $20,000,000/yr needs to keep 70% of that? Why not take an extra 5-10% from them (they will hardly notice it) and disperse that break to people who cant even afford a place to live?

it is sad when a huge chunk of our nation is below poverty
