Necrobump, it has been 5 years, lets revive this.

Picked up my '87 Chevy Scottsdale (V8 305) for $1200 off a fisherman a few months ago. Had terrible tires, seized rear breaks, busted exhaust hangers, 1 blown headlight, rusted shocks, some grill damage, and had been sitting for a year. Had it towed to the family shop and spent a week or so fixing it up. New wheels, new breaks, replaced all fluids / filters, fixed exhaust hangers, new hydraulic shocks (came with additional air shocks already installed), new headlights, some grill repairs, ran some fuel conditioner and seal conditioner through it, some minor interior repairs, and re-lubed everything. Runs great now, no problems yet, daily highway driver.

Gonna re-paint it this spring, same colors (dark brown / tan), and probably throw an aluminum grill on it.

^^Love the scenery. Nice truck too.

Holy... this thread is originally from 2003.

I've been driving a 2008 Silverado for a while, but I just picked up a Chevy Equinox about a month ago.

The work truck:

The Nox:

I bought my daughter a 98 Buick Century for her first car a year or so ago, and after I pay off the Nox in a year or two, I'll grab the Century, give her the Nox, and trade the rest in for a new one of these:

I'm gonna enter it in the Baja 500.

I have dirt bikes, quads, and go-carts so yes, I'll be using it. I live where the city meets corn fields, so there's some trails around here, but I plan on getting out to Dumont Dunes that year for some sand action.

My own two feet. My office is less than a mile from The Manor and the brisk walk (or bike ride in the summer) to and from work is my exercise plan.

Bump.

Still daily driving and exploring in my '87 Scottsdale. 330,000 kilometers and counting at 100 km+ a day.

Opened up my differential last week to swap out the gear oil and check up on things. Discovered that my spider gears have takin' a **** kicking over the last year of rippin' around up in the mountains, significant wear on the teeth and the old gear oil had basically turned into a metallic paint. Found myself a new set of gears on eBay for $100, only took about an hour to swap them in. Should last me at least another 100,000 kilometers, unless the price was a warning and my differential explodes by the end of the week.
