Yeah, and we dont get that much snow regularly here...it may not be the best idea for me

Thats a good choice...i would be dead without my Ipod..mind you....i need to upgrade..my 30 gig video is just about packed full and i dont even have one video.

you can rip DVD's to it w/the right software right?

Ive got DVD shrink to rip it but what do you use to convert it to an MP4? and does it support MJPG or MJPEG as well?

i dont think that you can put video files onto your itunes unless its MP4.
And i dont personally know of any particular converting programs that work well or w/e
