Sounds like you read stupid books. Do they inspire your poetry?

The Zombie Survival Guide - Max Brooks
As I Lay Dying - William Faulkner

sleepy jack 12-14-2006 10:52 PM

The Darkest Depths Of My Tortured Soul by Kevin Davis is also pretty cool.

Marquis de Sade's "120 Days of Sodom"

He wrote it while imprisioned at Bastille I believe. Its just so descriptive........borderlines disturbing.

Ma Cherie 12-14-2006 11:52 PM

do you like umm like fanfiction of favorite shows or such??

Alo 12-15-2006 12:34 AM

A gracious plenty - sheri reynolds

ROFL. I never thought I would see anyone recommend The Marquis to anyone, good show. Do not read that, btw. It's just descriptions of highly unusual sexual acts - written back in the 1800's though, so it's pretty high brow (lol).

As I Lay Dying? A little bit dry for me, have to be in the mood for some serious Faulkner.

Read Demian. Hermann ****ing Hesse for the win!

Read Killing Yourself to Live. Lovely book by old Chuck Klosterman, author of Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs... also a good read.

sleepy jack 12-15-2006 02:56 AM

It is kind of boring..aha on second thought you might not wanna check that one out spike.

You'd probaly really like A Winter Haunting (I mentioned it early), its a mindfuck. Its not one of my favorites but its still pretty sweet. It messes with your head quite a bit.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 12-15-2006 09:53 AM

Dude, As I Lay Dying was one of the best books I've ever read.

DontRunMeOver 12-15-2006 10:04 AM

Disgrace, by J.M. Coetze. There's something extremely blunt about the way he writes that keeps me reading and reading, when normally I have a very poor attention span for literature. I've started hundreds of books and finished very few but that was one I couldn't stop reading.

A Fine Balance, Rohinton Mistry. Read a lot of books when I had very little else to do while on trains or laying around in the evenings a couple of years ago. This was by far the best. It might not make as much sense if you haven't been to India, but it probably will.

MURDER JUNKIE 12-15-2006 11:41 AM

Porno - Irvine Welsh (same dude that wrote trainspotting)

DontRunMeOver 12-15-2006 12:24 PM

^I agree. Read some porno.

Portrait of Dorian Gray - Oscar Wilde.

If you're looking for something that will be quite a challenge?

That one's boring! Oscar Wilde said some brilliant things in his time and was a genius in many ways, but this one's just dreary.

Behold...the greatest book ever written.

The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks.

Read it before you die.

I really liked it. There is some brilliant lines. It starts off slow but that just makes the ending chapters seem more dramatic I thought.
